Big Bass Splash in brief

This is a five-reel, three-row slot with ten fixed lines that pay from left to right. In the base game it is a straightforward line slot with fish symbols carrying cash values; everything interesting happens once you reach free spins.

Compared with the original Big Bass Bonanza, Splash adds random modifiers before the bonus, extra end-of-spin features and a much bigger top multiplier of 10x.

Scatters and the two-scatter teaser

The Hooked Bass scatter can land on any reel. Three give 10 free spins, four give 15 and five give 20. When a spin stops with exactly two, the game sometimes steps in: either the reels holding scatters slide down one position while the others spin again, or a hook pulls a reel upward to reveal a third scatter. It does not always work, but it means near misses are not always over.

Free spins: fish, fishermen and four levels

In free spins the fisherman wild joins the reels. Every time he lands, he collects the cash value of every fish showing. Two fishermen on the same spin each collect the full amount.

Fishermen are also counted. Every fourth one you collect retriggers the round with 10 more spins and moves you up a level, which multiplies all future fish collections:

  1. 1xStart
  2. 2xAfter 4 fishermen
  3. 3xAfter 8
  4. 10xAfter 12

Three retriggers is the maximum, so a full round can reach level four. That final 10x is what makes long bonuses in Big Bass Splash so valuable compared with earlier games in the series.

Random boosts before and during the bonus

Before free spins begin, the game can add between none and five modifiers: more fish on the reels, more fishermen, more dynamite, hooks and bazookas, a start at level two, or two extra spins (which also add two spins to every retrigger). During the round, three random features can rescue a spin:

Dynamite

Lands fish with cash values at random spots when a fisherman is on screen.

Hook

Pulls a reel up to bring a fisherman into view when there are fish but no wild.

Bazooka

Blasts the non-wild symbols and replaces them when a fisherman lands with no fish to collect.

Paytable

Line wins as multiples of your total stake.

How often it pays, and how much

The default RTP is 96.71%, among the higher figures for a Pragmatic Play release. Two lower versions exist, 95.67% and 94.60%, and some British casinos use them, so open the game’s rules before you play. Volatility is high: independent testing finds a winning spin roughly one time in seven and free spins about once in 113 spins.

Wins are capped at 5,000x the stake. Reaching it needs a long bonus at the 10x level with big fish on screen, which is why the odds are put at around 1 in 3 million.

What is different for UK players

  • The bonus buy that costs 100x elsewhere is not offered in Britain; free spins have to be triggered naturally.
  • You start each spin yourself; there is no autoplay or turbo, and a spin cannot finish in under 2.5 seconds.
  • The maximum stake is £5, or £2 for players aged 18 to 24.
  • Your age is verified before you can open the game, including the demo.
  • Signing up to GamStop locks you out of every British-licensed gambling site.

What the free version can teach you

With free spins arriving roughly once every hundred-odd spins, a demo session of a few hundred spins should show you at least one or two bonuses. Watch how often the round reaches the second level; it is the clearest sign of how hard the game is to push to its big multipliers.

Mobile play

Big Bass Splash runs in mobile browsers on iOS and Android with no app needed. The reels fill the screen in landscape and the controls move to the side; in portrait the layout stacks, keeping the spin button within easy reach.

Five steps to the lake

  1. Choose one of the UK casinos above and open an account.
  2. Send the documents the casino asks for to prove your age.
  3. If you pick William Hill Vegas or BetMGM, play your welcome spins on Big Bass Splash.
  4. Check the RTP in the game rules and try the demo.
  5. Set a deposit limit, then play with a stake that suits your budget.

Our take

Big Bass Splash keeps the simple fishing formula and makes the bonus deeper. The pre-bonus boosts and the 10x top level give free spins real range, from a disappointing handful of fish to a round that keeps retriggering. The base game, though, is as plain as ever.

Pros

  • Four-level multiplier up to 10x
  • Random boosts before free spins
  • Default return of 96.71%
  • Often the game for UK welcome spins

Cons

  • Quiet, low-paying base game
  • Wins capped at 5,000x
  • Lower RTP versions at some casinos

Your Big Bass Splash questions answered

Who makes Big Bass Splash?

Reel Kingdom, a studio based in Cardiff, built it, and Pragmatic Play distributes it. It came out in June 2022 as the fifth game in the Big Bass series.

What lands the bonus round?

Land three, four or five Hooked Bass scatters for 10, 15 or 20 free spins. With exactly two scatters, the game may respin some reels or hook a reel upwards to try to reveal a third.

What does the fisherman do?

The fisherman is a wild that appears only in free spins. When he lands, he collects the cash value of every fish on the screen.

How does the multiplier grow in the bonus?

Every fourth fisherman you collect adds 10 more spins and raises the multiplier on fish values: 2x after the first retrigger, 3x after the second and 10x after the third.

What are the modifiers before free spins?

Before the round starts, up to five random boosts can be added: more fish, more fishermen, more dynamite, hooks and bazookas, a start at level two, or two extra spins.

What is the RTP of Big Bass Splash?

The default version returns 96.71%. Casinos can also run 95.67% or 94.60%, and the game’s information screen shows which you are playing.

How big can a single win get?

5,000x your stake. Independent testing puts the odds of reaching it at about 1 in 3 million spins.

Is the bonus buy available to British players?

No. The 100x bonus buy exists in other countries but is switched off for British players, along with autoplay and quick spin.

Gamble responsibly

Bonus-driven slots can go a long time between rewards. Set a budget and a time limit, use the tools in your casino account, and never increase stakes to chase free spins.
